I was quite disappointed with the book. It has no plot what so ever.
It has 2 individual talking about life, heaven, God, and things like that. I think this book is meant to make us think, provoke our thoughts, and make us wonder.
In fact, I think some of the statements contradict with each other.

He enigka laughs at certain points in the book. Anyway, even though being a short story as it is only pagesI really struggled to finish it. I even skipped few pages to go straight to the ending.
Can you blame me if I want something less, well, divine from this story? It is Josten Gaarder’s first book I’ve ever read, and I don’t feel like reading her other book. It was a good read, but I was bored and I wasn’t feeling anything when I read this. What helps me through is my curiosity to Cecilia and Ariel’s ending. But then again, the whole book made me think some stupid questions like, “hell, what in the world is Cecilia thinking?
I mean, come on, for a little girl she’s pretty pessimistic. She’s so bitter, seeing the world with gray, and half of through the story I was tired with her attitude to Ariel, her stupidity and naivety, her bitter remarks for everything.
I feel like slapping her in the face and tell her to just shut up and listen to what Ariel says without she commenting. Ariel is not my usual kind of angel.
El enigma y el espejo by Jostein Gaarder (1 star ratings)
Something with wings, maybe. But Ariel is not! And the issue, about God and questions espejl God, well, I’m not very fond of it. Just let say I particularly josein this story. I’m no a conservative, garader what they’re questioning about was a little disturbing, and even right now I can’t remember what they’re talking about!
Honestly, I hate to give a book one star, but what choice do I have? I don’t like the story, I don’t like the characters, I hate the way it ends, so I’m sorry for Miss Gaarder’s fans, I can’t wrap my head around it and I decided to give the book back to its previous owner soon, as I don’t know what to do with a book I don’t intend to re-read.

El enigma y el espejo/ The Enigma and the Mirror : Jostein Gaarder :
In fact, I found it to be fairly rubbish. NO, make that very rubbish. Slow, dull, and trying too hard to philosophise whilst esoejo succeeding at it. Much prefer Sophies World or Solitaire Mystery. Het slechtste boek dat ik in jaren gelezen heb, wat een verschrikking! Waarschijnlijk een geweldig leuk boek voor diep gelovige mensen, maar voor atheisten is dit een gruwel.
